These Submission Terms apply to everything you send us through this page or by email to [email protected]. “We” and “us” mean Northview Productions Inc., a British Columbia company doing business as Kalam Di Goonj.

1. What you may send us

We accept writing, poetry, articles and essays, translations, photographs, audio recordings, artwork and illustration, historical documents, letters to the editor, and news tips. The canonical language of the magazine is Punjabi in Gurmukhi script, and the original form of every published piece is Punjabi.

2. What you warrant when you submit

• The work is your own. You created it, or you hold the rights needed to submit it and to grant the permissions described below.
• It is unpublished, unless you tell us otherwise when you send it.
• It does not copy anyone. Presenting another’s work as your own ends our consideration of it under our Editorial Standards.
• If it is a translation, you hold the right to translate. Under Canadian copyright law, translation is an exclusive right of the original rights-holder. Include written permission, or evidence that the original is public domain in Canada. We do not publish unauthorized translations.
• If other people appear in it, whether in photographs, audio, or identifiable personal accounts, you have their consent where consent is required.

3. Your copyright remains yours

You retain copyright in your work. Submitting it transfers no ownership to us, and we will not treat your work as ours without a written agreement to that effect. This is our standing default and does not change without notice.

4. The licence you grant if we accept your work

Sending us a piece gives us permission only to read, assess, and discuss it internally. If we select your work, we will ask you to sign our Unsolicited Contributor Agreement before publication. In summary, it grants the Company a licence to publish the work on Kalam Di Goonj; to edit it in consultation with you; to prepare renditions, being an English and, in future, a Shahmukhi rendition of the Gurmukhi original; to narrate it; to include it in PDF and printable editions; to retain it in our archive; and to promote it. All of this is subject to your name and attribution.

Moral rights, meaning your right to be credited and to the integrity of your work, are yours by law and cannot be taken from you. If we do not publish the piece, no publication licence arises.

5. Payment

We do not offer payment for unsolicited submissions at launch. If that changes, or if we commission work from you on agreed terms, we will say so in writing before you begin.

6. Contributors under the age of majority

If you are under 19, the age of majority in British Columbia, we require a parent’s or guardian’s written consent before we can publish your work or identify you as its author. Read our Minors Notice, and tell us your situation when you submit so that we can guide you.

7. Submissions we do not publish

If we decline a submission, we acquire no rights in it, and it remains entirely yours to send elsewhere. We retain declined and unanswered submissions only for a limited period under our internal retention schedule, and then delete them. You may ask us to delete a declined submission sooner by writing to [email protected].

8. Tips and confidential material

If you are sending a news tip, a document, or sensitive information, say so and tell us what protection you are asking for before sharing details that could identify you. We take source protection seriously, within honest limits: email is not a perfectly secure channel, and legal protections for sources have boundaries we cannot contract away. If your safety could be at stake, contact us first so that we can agree a safer method.

9. AI assistance must be disclosed

Submissions must be genuinely yours. If any material part of a submission was produced or substantially shaped by AI or automated tools, whether in drafting, translation, image generation, or extensive rewriting, you must disclose this when you submit. Undisclosed AI-generated work submitted as your own original writing is treated as plagiarism is treated.

10. Your personal information

To handle your submission we collect your name and pen name where different, your city, your contact details, a short biography, and the submission itself with any surrounding correspondence. We use this to assess the work, correspond with you, credit you if we publish, and maintain the rights records the law and good practice require. 11. Limits of this page

• Submitting does not guarantee publication, and it creates no commission, employment, or partnership.
• Nothing here transfers your copyright to us.
• These terms govern the submission stage. The binding publication terms are in the signed Contributor Agreement, which prevails where the two differ.
